Afternoon Goodies

It has been a busy afternoon! I have been busy cleaning and baking since Sienna left. I made some awesome oatmeal chocolate chip cookies based on Veggiegirls recipe (find that here), I subbed agave nectar for brown rice syrup and ¼ cup chocolate chips for the dried fruit. They turned out fabulous! I had 2 for my first afternoon snack.

I kind of craved another cookie but I really didn’t need one so I decided to make some tea. Ginger-honey green tea was the flavor of the day! I added a touch of almond milk.

A few hours later I was hungry again! So I made myself a little smoothie with my amazing Bamix immersion blender. I used about a cup of frozen raspberries, a cup unsweetened almond milk and ¼ cup plain non fat yogurt. I’m sipping it as I type and it is totally reminding me of summer! I hope everyone’s afternoon is going well, I’m going to go do some stretches- my muscles are feeling a bit tight!

  2. What is agrav nectar? Is it preferable to sugar?

  3. ahh, so YOU’RE brianne!! you didn’t have a link to your blog in your comment, so I’m glad that I rediscovered your fabulous blog!! :0) so glad that you enjoyed the cookie-clusters, and that agave nectar worked in the recipe!!

  4. Lisa- Agave nectar is similar to honey but a bit thinner. Its much sweeter than regular sugar tsp for tsp. Its about 60 cal a tbsp but its so sweet so you don’t need much! About 1/3 cup is comparable is sweetness to 1 cup of white sugar. I have also read that the glycemic index is lower than most natural sweeteners on the market. I hope that helps!

  5. Veggie girl- thank you again for the recipe! Next time I’ll either add dried fruit or carob… or both!
