Baby, it’s cold outside!
This morning is my first post, I’m so excited! I hope you all enjoy my blog… I have been meaning to start one for a while! First I have to thank my lovely boyfriend for putting the site together for me. It looks awesome!
Today is the second day of ridiculous weather- it is -48 degrees Celsius with the wind chill! We have had fairly nice winter thus far in
For breakfast this morning I wanted something warm… so I proceeded to make some breakfast tea.
Then of course I decided to make some oatmeal! I love oatmeal; you can just do sooo much with it.
I used Red Mills Thick Rolled Oats and made it with 1 cup of unsweetened Almond Milk and a Macintosh apple.
Topping for oatmeal include: 10g flax seeds + 10g sliced almonds + 10g goji berries + 1 tbsp almond butter + cinnamon.
And here is my beautiful daughter, Sienna chilling out in her exersaucer while mommy eats.

Hi! I followed your link from Jenna’s blog. I bookmarked you! Good luck, and your daughter is so cute!
I have actually never wrote on a blog before, but I saw you advertise your new blog on another site and thought I would encourage you and let you know that your page looks great! Your husband did a wonderful job. Sienna is also beautiful! Oatmeal breakfasts are so very good, especially because of all the possibilities! Thanks so much for taking your time to create yet another wonderful site!
welcome to the blogging world!! :0)
mmm, all the fresh produce and the oatmeal looks divine; and your daughter is too precious!! :0D
YUMMM your breakfast looks delisious!
You have a beautiful daughter, welcome to blogging and keep it up! I’ve bookmarked you and plan to check often
Your daughter is so cute!
I was thinking of purchasing bob red mill oatmeal- but they have so many. Do you know what the difference b/w their scottish, thick, and old fashioned ones are? Thanks!
Thank you for all the wonderful comments!
I really enjoy reading them.
Rose
I know what you mean about bob red mill having soo many choices. I really like their line- Darren often teases me for looking every time we go to the grocery store!
As for the differences- the Scottish and steel cut oats are the least processed but take the longest to cook. They are oat groats that have been chopped into two or three pieces by a rotating steel blade. Unlike rolled oats, they are not steamed, and so take longer to cook. I am not too sure of the difference between their thick rolled oats and the reg. rolled oats- I’m assuming the thick ones are just not as flattened in the steaming processes which makes the oats a bit thicker. They also have a few more calories- 160 vs 130. Hope that helps!
Love the new blog, keep up the great work!
looks GREAT im hungry!
Hi Brianne,
Welcome to the world of blogging and I’m looking forward to reading more posts. You have an adorable baby!
Hey Brianne! Wow, so exciting to be able to witness your first post! The site looks FABULOUS- love the colors and set-up of it all.
I’m so glad that all the blogs I have found thus far have been such encouraging communities. I love that we all share a love for healthy food, minds, and bodies (as well as the morning bowl of oatmeal!)
I just wanted to say keep up the great work, we’re all supporting you in this new adventure!!!
Nice site. I also use goji berries. I bought a big bag at Cosco. Love oatmel during the cold winter. Good luck with your blog
Thanks for the additional positive comments! I too really enjoy the “food blog community”, which of course is why I stated my own!
Bev- I will defiantly have to look to the big bag of goji berries at costco next time I go. I love them!
