I can't help you with the food-spending tips... I do the same thing myself!

Cashew butter toast is the best! I love it because the bread is all warm and toasty right from the toaster, the cashew butter is cold and creamy from the fridge, and then I liberally apply pumpkin pie spice on top. Simple is best, sometimes.

I make a big pot of soup on the weekends and it is real help. When it gets low I bulk it back up with veggies and vegetable broth . Have a big salad and add beans & nuts and berries. I also make a turkey loaf .

Hi Brianne!

First of all thank you for your wonderful blog and two Sienna is absolutely adorable. :-)

I find that looking grocery flyers and seeing what's on sale that week and plan around that. Or if you find that a staple product (mine would be Almond Breeze, Amy's soups etc) go on sale I stock up. I know that it won't go to waste because I use it every day plus it doesn't go bad so quickly. Also veggie and fruit wise, I tend to buy whats in season. Yesterday I got a huge bag of oranges for $2 and I've seen them close to 69 cents for one around here. I definitely try to look at different places as well and ball park know some of the prices for the stuff that I do eat on a regular basis. Then that way I can compare if its advertised cheaper somewhere else I can mentally compare them. Hope I helped, keep up the great work!

I have a jar of cashew butter waiting to be cracked open in my pantry. Can't wait!

I have been told I spend too much on food. =( I always have the impulse to stock up, it's terrible!

I definately hear you about cutting back - everything seems to be so much higher in price in Canada too! I live in Vancouver and I was in Seattle for the weekend - the groceries were SO much cheaper there! The Ezekiel Cereal was half the price that it is here! I'm sure you experience similar prices in Calgary to Vancouver...:(

I am also trying to cut back and save but LOVE to have many options - time to bake more and buy less - we will just have to bring the FUN back into baking - put some tunes on and make delicious healthy treats so we dont have to buy them! It is also so much cheaper to buy beans than meat so that is cutting down on the bill a lot too (i know you are not eating animal products either) although soy and hemp costs a bit more i am sure we are saving by avoiding meat! I try to buy a lot of friuts and veggies that are on sale and bananas and grapes are pretty cheap right now! Good luck - please share any money saving tips you have and I will do the same if i come up with any!
