Hi Lisa-

I started to choose sprouted grain because of the nutritional profile- they usually have more protein and fiber and are less processed. The bread is defiantly more dense and chewy than regular whole wheat bread but I have grown to love the taste. I believe the grains sprout in a similar process to things like bean spouts but the bread is baked so I'm sure that kills any potential salmonella. Sprouted grains are also lower on the glycemic index and I find they keep me nice and full.. they are just fabulous! You will have to let me know if you try them!

Thanks for the bread brand tips- dempster is a canadian brand (i've seen there website before it looks like they offer good choices!)

You mentioned sprouted bread. I've noticed its popular now. Is it healthier, lower cal, better tasting- why do people like it more? I have been hesistant to buy it because I know we are supposed to avoid eating spouts (ex: bean sprouts) due to salmonella because of the way they are grown. I am wondering if this is the same thing? Thanks!
