Juno!

Darren and myself went to see Juno tonight! We had his mom come over to babysit Sienna- it was a great movie. I highly recommend seeing it if you haven’t!

My lunch held me over really well but when I got hungry again the hunger really struck! I had some plain yogurt with ezekiel cereal (1/4 cup) and 2 kiwi’s.

For dinner I made chicken stir fry. I used (for 2 people):

  • 1 chicken breast marinated in soy sauce and olive oil
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 celery stock
  • 5 button mushrooms
  • 1 head bok choy
  • 3 green onions
  • garlic
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil
  • soy sauce to taste
  • 3 oz Soba noodles
  • sprinkle of slivered almonds

I stir fried the chicken up first and then put it aside. I tossed the veggies in a 1/2 tsp oil first and then added it to the pan (reduces the chances of the oil oxidizing and reduces the amount of oil needed). Once veggies/garlic were soften I added the chicken and noodles. It was super fast and easy!

Before the movie we went to starbucks and I got a tall soy earl grey mistro (half tea, half steamed soymilk) and I added 2 packets of sugar in the raw.

After the movie I was pretty hungry so we went to the Good Earth around the corner and I had one of their awesome granola bars and a small soy chai latte.

  1. All looks delicious! We’re hoping to go see Juno this weekend!

  2. Hi Brianne!

WOW the soba noodles look fabulous! And I think I will give the Ezekial cereal a try. It looks so crunchy and nutty flavored– probably pairs PERFECTLY with cold, gooey plain yogurt. ;) Oh! And glad you liked JUNO– it is such a cute movie.

I posted this up on Kath and Jenna’s blog too, so sorry for the repeat- but I would love to seek your insight on my problem as well!

First off, let me introduce myself as a college student, 18 years old, 5′ 8″ and 128 pounds. (Last March 2007 I weighed 151 and lost weight through portion control and de-stressing:) ). Ideally, I’d like to slim down to 125 by summer. Anyway, on to the problem…

This morning I woke up at 6am, ran 3 miles at 6mph and 2% incline, then did light yoga for an hour. I’d say I burned about 350 calories. Then I went to the dining hall and, I hate to say this– all hell broke loose :( I had Nature’s Path Instant Oatmeal with banana and pb, 1/2 grape fruit, vanilla soymilk…then I couldn’t resist a bit of warmed pumpkin bread, a buttermilk biscuit, and a chocolate chip cookie! Yikes! I totaled my breakfast cals to a whopping 800 cals–minus the exercise calories– I’m at 450 NET calories, which I suppose isn’t too bad.

HOWEVER– I decided to try to keep a positive attitude and focus on my body signals after. It is now 9:50am, about an hour and a half after I finished eating, and I’m not feeling uncomfortably full at all!!! In fact, my stomach feels satisfied, I am not bloated to the point I can’t drink water, etc. My question is this: If I TRULY listened to my body and DID NOT count calories, I could consume quite an unhealthy amount of sugar and fat!! THis is why I’m nervous about simply “listening to my body” and quit counting calories.

Does anyone else have this fear or problem with listening to their body?? Am i simply over-reacting?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Caryee,

I think your goal is where the problem is. Just judging by your height and weight you are already low weight for your height. Average for your hieght is 140 (plus or minus 10% based on your frame size.) I think maybe you are putting to much emphasis on losing weight which is below your set point weight and therfor are stuggling psychologically (your mind is thinking about food.) Stick to your initial goal of having portion control and being healthy and you should be ok

  4. A tea misto?? i’ve never tried that but it sounds right up my alley …trying to get away from drinking so much coffee but I LOVE black tea! I tried Starbucks “green tea latte” and thought it was gross……is this better?!

Sounds like a fun night! I’m loving your blog and your fresh outook—going to the store to find Hemp Milk tomorrow! :)

Kath- Juno is great! I want to see it again!

Caryee- Ezekial cereal is awesome. You must try it! As for your questions the first thing that pops out at me is that you overeating is a sign that your body needs more fuel so really you weren’t “overeating” at all? Maybe that is just what your body needed- so really it was a good thing you listened. Next time instead of eating “junk” eat something more nutritionally dense. I really wouldn’t worry- you already sound like you are at a great weight. Hoe many calories do you strive for in a day? I personally don’t count calories but if you choose to at least make sure your eating enough! Congrats on your weight loss! I personally would urge you to stop counting calories for a few days and see how you feel. I know it is scary but you can’t do to much damage in a few days..! Try it!

Jenna- I loove tea mistro’s. Its just brewed tea and steamed milk… the green tea lattes are gross! I know they use a powder to make them… yuck. They taste so weird to me!

You must let me know what you think of the hemp milk!
