  1. Thanks for you insightful comments on my blog earlier! Well said! Its very difficult to discuss issues such as this because people DO (myself def. included) get very emotional. Its a super sensitive subject, esp when you have people questioning your choices. I’m right there with you on the dairy though…..have you tried soy cheese? I’m thinking about picking some up at the store this weekend but don’t know what to buy. I want to try to make a dairy-less mac & cheese but I’m scared it will taste weird!!

  2. Happy Valentines Day!! xx

You and Jenna are too awesome for words - you know I’m here for you guys for ANYTHING, but especially for times when you’re trying to adapt to more “veg-foods” :0)

  3. I have been so emotional lately- and I am finding it hard not to lecture people on the meant/dairy industry! haha. It just makes me so so sad. What are your feelings on eggs?

I haven’t tried soy cheese yet! I’m kind of scared… lol! I have looked at the soy cheese but have yet to actually buy some- the brand they recommend in “skinny bitch” isn’t sold at my health food store! How has giving up dairy been for you so far? Have you tried soy yogurt yet?

  4. VeggieGirl- Your pretty awesome yourself! =0) I’ll most likely be emailing you with lots of questions!

  5. I really haven’t missed dairy AT ALL!!! I look back and realize I always had random yogurts with my meals and now I wonder why…oh well…I turned over a new page! I never drank much milk anyways so that was pretty easy to let go of..and i just LOVE love LOVE hempmilk!!!! SO much tastier than cow’s milk anyways! My big test will be Saturday night because Ryan and I are going out to pizza with some friends before going to an engagement party. I asked Ryan if we could try a “new” pizza place in town (not our old favorite) that actually has individualized vegan pizzas!!!! They have a pesto topped one and also one just topped with a variety of fresh veggies. Ryan groaned, of course…but he’s being really cool about it. Cheese is def. my weakness so this will be a huge test!!!!!

Ps- I heard the “rice cheese” is actually pretty good too……

I plan to buy tofurky as well. Despite what everyone says about fake meat..i actually really like the taste of morningstar farms and other “fake meat” products! A vegetarians gotta have her junk too I guess and its better than the alternative! I don’t really see what all the fuss is about……

  6. oh! and I have yet to try soy yogurt but plan to look for the kind you tried “nancys” next time I go to the store! I’m nervous but you make it look so good!

  7. I haven’t found it to be difficult to give up dairy either! It was a lot easier to give up yogurt than I thought. The true test will come when I eat out. As I mentioned I’m going away for the weekend which means restaurants! I might eat fish depending on what options i have! Its kind of exciting embarking on veganism (or a version of it)… I feel really good about my choice! I think it is so neat we both feel very similar on the subject and took the steps towards a new diet at the same time! Let me know about all your veggies finds- of course I’ll keep reading your blog too!

As for fake meat- I don’t think it is contradictory to eat it all! It defiantly helps with the transition and it is something Darren will sometimes eat! Plus some of them taste really good!

I hope you like soy yogurt! I really do.

  8. Sorry to invite myself into your conversation with Jenna, but I wanted to recommend the Follow Your Heart and VeganRella brands of soy cheese (my parents love these brands too!! And remember, they’re omnivores!!; the WholeSoy brand of soy-yogurt; the Tofurky, Nate’s, and Field Roast brands of “fake meats.”
