Oatmeal to Go!

Mar 13

Good morning! I hope everyones day is off to a great start. Spring is in the air!

This morning I had overnight oatmeal- I put 1/2 oats and 1/2 almond milk in a bowl and left it overnight in the refrigerator. In the morning I had oatmeal to go! You can heat it up or leave it cold, I choose the latter. Its a nice way to have oatmeal in warmer weather.

I topped my oats with fresh strawberries and banana, a few crushed pecans and a drizzle of agave nectar.

I also had white tea.

I’m going shopping with my mom today to get Sienna some new clothes- she grows so fast! We basically have to buy her a new wardrobe every 3 months! Lucky Girl.

Hopefully I’ll also get some baking in today… I’m thinking muffins??

Hello, hello

Mar 7

So yet again I am apologizing for the lack of posting. Sienna has been working me hard these past few days. She is on the move! Not quite crawling but with the rolling and creeping she can defiantly move! Needless to say- I have to constantly be watching her! Any time I have a free moment I generally have 10 million things to do (like take a shower!) so blogging gets pushed aside. I’m going to work on keeping it up!

Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas/tips on how to cut my grocery budget. I find just bringing a calculator and adding as you put things in the cart really helps! Unfortunately it means trying less fun products and getting more “staples” to cook and bake with so I actually have to make things to eat! I actually like this- its nice to have things like homemade soup and cookies on hand.

On to breakfast- this morning I tried something out. I had a fruit and nut plate to start my day (since fruit should really either be eaten alone or with nuts). I had one banana, one apple (small), 1/3 cup raw walnuts and after I took the picture I added some cinnamon! It was so good! The fruit were perfect and went so well with the nuts- the cinnamon really enhanced the flavors. I will defiantly be doing this more often.

I also had a bowl of oatmeal made with almond milk about an hour or so after my fruit plate.

Have a great morning!

Sleepy Morning

Feb 6

I have just been so tired lately! I can never seem to get enough sleep. I have always needed my sleep but I can only seem to fit in around 7 hrs… I think I need more like 9! Sienna is also sleeping in this morning which is fine by me!! I wish she would do so more often. For breakfast I had steel cut oats again (pre made and microwaved with a bit of almond milk). Today I topped it with red pear + flax + walnuts + maple syrup. Wow it was gooood. I also had a cup of lemon green tea and I am sipping on another now (I’ve been inspired by Dr. Oz)!

Sunshine!

Feb 5

The sun is shining! The weather is warming up here in Calgary- hopefully we don’t get another 50 below cold episode! This morning I had steel cut oats again (warmed in the microwave w/ a bit of almond milk). I topped it with almond butter, sliced almonds, maple syrup and banana.

This morning is my first post, I’m so excited! I hope you all enjoy my blog… I have been meaning to start one for a while! First I have to thank my lovely boyfriend for putting the site together for me. It looks awesome!

Today is the second day of ridiculous weather- it is -48 degrees Celsius with the wind chill! We have had fairly nice winter thus far in Calgary… I think it has been saving up for this week! Needless to say, I will be staying home today.

For breakfast this morning I wanted something warm… so I proceeded to make some breakfast tea.

Then of course I decided to make some oatmeal! I love oatmeal; you can just do sooo much with it.

I used Red Mills Thick Rolled Oats and made it with 1 cup of unsweetened Almond Milk and a Macintosh apple.

Topping for oatmeal include: 10g flax seeds + 10g sliced almonds + 10g goji berries + 1 tbsp almond butter + cinnamon.
